As part of its national public affairs partnership with Habitat for Humanity International, DIY--Do It Yourself Network will debut a five-part, on-air workshop Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. ET, titled "Lending a Hand: Habitat for Humanity." The workshop will serve as an informational guide for viewers who want to contribute to their communities by helping build a Habitat house. In five half-hour episodes, DIY and host Steve Thomas explain every step in the process of building a Habitat home and demonstrate the building skills and construction techniques that help make volunteers' days at the Habitat project site enjoyable, rewarding and productive.
"Our hope is that this workshop will serve as inspiration to do-it-yourselfers and volunteers across the country and encourage them to reach out in their communities," said Bill Sykes, vice president of programming for DIY. "We captured the footage for the workshop at a build site in Charlotte, N.C. DIY employees, as well as other sponsors and organizations involved with the partnership, dedicated time and energy to help complete the house. It is such a rewarding experience and one on which we hope all of our viewers decide to embark."
